16 Things to Do During Quarantine

Hey gang! I hope you are all doing well during these trying times. I have been home for the past five weeks and now shutdown has been extended here in New York State. So, I figured I would share with you some of the ways I have been passing the time during self quarantine.

Binge TV & Movies

Binging tv and movies is probably what most of us are doing during this quarantine, but sometimes that’s just what we feel like doing with our day. If you have been looking for a list of things to watch, here is a mini bingeable tv shows list!

Organize Your Closet

Organizing your closet is something that makes you feel way more put together and actually helps you get ready faster in the morning. I always have so many pieces that I don’t ever wear, so organizing my closet allows me to get rid of those pieces and make sifting through clothes a lot easier in the morning. I have been super into neutrals lately, so a lot of my closet is beige, black, and cream colored.

Re-Decorate Your Home

Re-decorating is something that I always find to be a lot of fun. I am actually in the process of writing a post that will go through some of my favorite Amazon home decor, so stay tuned for that. I like to re-decorate seasonally, so I have been collecting spring home decor at the moment.

Spring Cleaning

It’s that time of year again, spring cleaning time. The only bonus about spring cleaning this year is that many of us have some extra time to get our house organized and cleaned the way we want it. Spring cleaning can often be a pain because we have to work around our busy schedules, but with many of us stuck at home and parents not having to lug their kids to sports and school events, that leaves us with plenty of spring cleaning time.

Work in Your Flowerbeds

Working in your flowerbeds is always something that needs to be done, I got into my pool area early this year to get ready to plant some new perennials. I raked leaves and worked the soil, so it would be ready for when I finally purchase some new perennials. The only issue is getting the perennials while in self-quarantine.

Plant a Garden

Planting a garden is always a fun project this time of year. I love planting a tiny garden in my yard, so I can grab some veggies for meals throughout the summer. My favorite things to plant are zucchini, yellow squash, and tomatoes.

Accomplish D.I.Y. Projects

D.I.Y. projects always help pass the time. I have been wanting to do a kitchen remodel and think I’m going to start that this coming weekend. I have a lot of other diy projects on my mind as well, so there will be a lot happening in my house this spring/summer. A couple of diy projects you might be interested in are redoing a bathroom or bedroom. This doesn’t have to be a huge diy, just something that helps you switch it up.

Pick Up a New Hobby

Picking up a new hobby is always fun. I have a few hobbies already (sewing and painting), but I have been working on improving my pottery skills during this quarantine. For those of you that don’t know, I have my own pottery business and just started selling on Etsy. Even though I already have a business making pottery, there is always room for improvement, so I have been focusing on that lately. Your hobby can be anything; just think of something you have always wanted to do and start there. There are always a lot of great tips on Pinterest.

Bake

Baking is something I enjoy doing, but often never do because it does take me quite sometime, especially when making cookies (which is what I like the most). Now that I have so much time at home, I have been baking a lot. I actually made some sugar cookies today. Probably not the best thing for me when I’ve been attempting to be healthier, lol.

Exercise

Exercising is something many of us wish we were in the habit of doing, but is often ignored. I have been taking this down time at home to get myself in the habit of exercising daily; studies have shown that it takes, on average, 66 days to form a new habit. Start forming whatever habit you are looking to start. I have been using Sarah’s Day’s workout guides as my starting point, you can find those here (NOT an affiliate link). Journaling

Journaling is something I enjoy doing when I am stressed and need some time to remind myself of all the things I am lucky to have in my life. Have An At-Home Spa Day

An at-home spa day can be one of the best ways to de-stress during these trying times. I usually draw myself a bubble bath, use one of the many face masks I have collected, paint my nails, or simply give myself an hour to just look through some of the magazines I haven’t gotten around to reading.

Make Summer Plans

Sometimes looking forward is the best way to put ourselves in a good mood. Make some plans for your summer, that way you are able to look forward to something and maybe allow yourself to see the light at the end of this quarantine tunnel. I love to make camping plans or just make a list of all the things I like to do in my area during the warmer months.

Have a Picnic

Pack a picnic and set up in your yard for a change of scenery that is still self-quarantine.

Have an Electronics-Free Day

I’m sure many of us have been spending quarantine in front of our televisions or staring at our cellphones. Take an entire day to be totally electronic free. Spend the day doing one of the things above or just relaxing with your quarantine pal by your side!
